About Me
About The Artist
Kevin McGovern’s paintings and drawings have been exhibited at the Art Foundry Gallery, the University Library Gallery at California State University, Sacramento, the Artists Contemporary Gallery and the Crocker Art Museum.
McGovern graduated from California State University, Sacramento, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1979 and a Master of Arts degree in 1986. He was also honored for significant achievement in his profession by the Alumni Association of CSUS in 1987.
While attending CSUS, McGovern studied drawing and painting with a number of instructors, but found Jack Ogden,William Allan and Steven Kaltenbach to be the most influential. He also studied art history with John Fitzgibbon and credits many other painters as influences, including
Richard Diebenkorn, Wayne Thiebaud, David Hockney and Elmer Bischoff.
Since 1981 McGovern has taught at Christian Brothers High School where he currently teaches drawing and painting.
